Gerald, known as J.J., is a 9 year old boy living with hemophilia. During his everyday life, he has to be very careful with everything he does. Any bump or cut he gets on his body can result in a life-threatening infection. Having hemophilia means that when J.J. gets a bruise or cut, his blood is not able to clot properly. This means that it is very painful for him. Everyday activities such as playing tag or riding a bike can lead to a trip to the hospital if J.J. gets injured. J.J. is not allowed to play sports with a high risk of injury. His teachers and the nurse at his school have to be aware of his hemophilia and what to do if he is injured at school.
